Opportunities for collaborative research launched under the Amazon+10 Initiative

CALL FOR PROPOSALS SCIENTIFIC EXPEDITIONS – AMAZON INITIATIVE+10

The British Council, through the UK government's International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF), has joined the Amazonia+10 Initiative to launch another call for proposals under the Amazonia BR/UK Workshops Grants program, aimed at researchers from the UK and Brazil. The call will fund scientific workshops to support new research, projects, and collaborations between Brazilian and British researchers on topics related to the Amazon.

Potential topics for the workshop may include, but are not limited to:

  • Biodiversity

  • Climate Change

  • Bioeconomy or Biotechnology

  • Promoting better living conditions for the Amazonian population.

  • Land use

Amount of each offer: up to £55,000
Total call value: £330,000
Participating countries: United Kingdom and Brazil
Eligibility: The proposal must be submitted by a researcher based in the United Kingdom together with a researcher based in the Legal Amazon region.
Application deadline: October 21, 2025, 11:00 AM (UK time)

CALL FOR PROPOSALS SCIENTIFIC EXPEDITIONS – AMAZON INITIATIVE+10

The British Council, in partnership with the Amazon+10 Initiative, is offering 6 scholarships for researchers from the Legal Amazon region to conduct their research in the United Kingdom, at the University of Bradford and Liverpool John Moores University, with projects focused on social impact and innovation.


Available opportunities:

The fellowships are for 12 months for visiting researchers, with funding ranging from R$ 240,000 to R$ 260,000, in addition to other benefits.


Who can register?

Researchers from universities and research centers in the Legal Amazon region.

University of Bradford:

It offers three research grants for projects focused on conservation, traditional communities, or public health.

Oportunidades Disponíveis: 

As bolsas são de 12 meses para pesquisadores visitantes, com financiamento entre R$ 222 mil e R$ 250 mil, além de muitos outros benefícios.

Graduação relevante e PhD, experiência em pesquisa, e inglês (mínimo IELTS 6.5).  O custo da taxa do exame IELTS, se aplicável, está incluído na bolsa de estudos.

FIRST CALL FOR PROPOSALS - AMAZÔNIA+10 INITIATIVE

The National Council of State Research Support Foundations (Confap) makes public Call for Proposals No. 003/2022 - Amazon+10 Initiative, which aims to develop Science, Technology and Innovation (S,T&I) in the Amazon region Cool. In total, 20 State Research Support Foundations (FAPs) joined the Call for Proposals. Investments total R$52 million.

 

The objective of this Call for Proposals is to support scientific research and technological development in teaching and research institutions and companies on current problems in the Amazon, which focus on strengthening nature-society interactions for sustainable and inclusive development of the region . 

 

The studies supported under this initiative should advance scientific and technological knowledge about the region by proposing community-based adaptation solutions, that is, developed together with the local population, in order to primarily benefit and promote the well-being of the region's populations. consistently and over the long term. The participation of public policy makers and public and private investors will be encouraged in all projects.
